Tropical Storm Kirk was a short-lived but impactful tropical cyclone that affected the Lesser Antilles in late September 2018.
Formation: Kirk formed from a tropical wave that moved off the coast of Africa on September 17, 2018. It gradually organized and became a tropical depression on September 22nd.
Intensity: Kirk reached a peak intensity as a tropical storm with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph (85 km/h) and a minimum central pressure of 1003 mbar. The storm struggled to intensify significantly due to unfavorable atmospheric conditions like wind shear.
Impact: Kirk brought heavy rainfall and gusty winds to several islands in the Lesser Antilles, including Barbados, St.%20Lucia, and Martinique. This caused flooding and some minor structural damage.
Dissipation: After passing through the Lesser Antilles, Kirk weakened and eventually degenerated into a tropical wave on September 29, 2018.
